YouCanDanceToit!
Добавлен 12 окт 2006
Hello Good People! Welcome to my channel, showcasing the great American Bandstand in the 1960's!
I have always had a passion for music from the 60’s, the greatest music of all time!
I love watching clips from when this music was new such as on shows like Hullabaloo, Shindig, The Ed Sullivan Show etc... but I especially love seeing average kids dancing to this “new” music on American Bandstand.
My channel is dedicated to sharing clips from American Bandstand (and other shows) celebrating AB’s amazing dancers (check out ABDancers channel too!) and highlighting the fashion, fads, news, pop culture, and especially the MUSIC of the 1960’s!
Thanks for watching!

Airdate: October 12, 1965, Tuesday.
Season 2, Episode 22 - ABC
The Everly's cover of "Love is Strange" (one of my favorite Everly Brothers songs) only made it to 128 on Billboard, but it did get to #11 in the U.K. Last month, Sept. '65, they performed a live version on "Shindig!"
The Action Kids: Steve Ciro, Jerilyn Stapleton, Roger Minami, Lesley Evans, Mike Williams, Roberta Tennes, Pete Menafee, Jill Gordon, and Joy Ciro.
Location: Port of Los Angeles, CA near the Wilmington oil fields. The ship is the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk (CVA-63, later CV-63) as identified by @SSN515. In 7 days from this episode’s airing, she will ship out to Vietnam.

Swingin' Time 1966 - Bus Stop, The Hollies and Closing Theme
Просмотров 16 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Airdate: September 17, 1966 Here's another Bandstand-like teen dance show that were so ubiquitous back in the 60’s. Swingin’ Time was broadcast from CKLW Channel 9 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and also seen in Detroit (just across the Detroit River). Hosted by Detroit radio legend Robin Seymour, the show ran from 1965 to 1968. If you’d like to see the whole episode, which includes guests Bob Seg...
American Bandstand 1967 - Maverick's Flat, Freddy Cannon
Просмотров 8 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Airdate: April 1, 1967 Here are a few nice, clear shots of the '67 AB dancers clapping along with Freddy. I spotted Stan Soburn, Jeff Stein, Theodosia Dayton, Bernie Kates, Diana Bower, Rick Kline, Leonard Smith, Sue Rose, Famous Hooks and Frank Vanderpuil. In a few minutes Frank and Judy Michaud will win the 1967 Swing Dance Contest. (Don Sanuskar is here somewhere too but probably just out of...
Where the Action Is - 1965 - Tina Turner - Gonna Have Fun, Ike & Tina Turner
Просмотров 12 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: October 7, 1965 RIP Tina Turner, a true legend. Tina, The Action Kids, Bandstand Regular Famous Hooks and some local kids dance to one of Ike and Tina’s lesser known, but upbeat songs. They are dancing at the 60’s teen dance club It’s Boss, formerly Ciro’s (later Ciro’s Le Disc) and currently The Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Many music acts played at It’s Boss before ...
American Bandstand 1969 - Rate A Record - The Chambers Brothers/Art & Honey
Просмотров 13 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: December 20, 1969 This is from the Christmas episode that was unearthed last year thanks to Cathy Hicks (dancing here at 1:30) With the dancing, fashions, and 2 great songs, this might be my all-time favorite rate-a-record, especially for one without a hit song. How cool would it be to see this in color (and no timestamp) Neither of these 2 songs ever charted, but to my ear, they both ...
American Bandstand 1964 - I Don't Want To See You Again, Peter & Gordon
Просмотров 12 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: October 24, 1964 This is probably as close as I'll ever get to posting the kids dancing to a Beatles song - Paul McCartney composed, British Invasion group, 1964...so close. I've actually tried posting this clip a couple of times years ago and YT's unfeeling, song detecting software, living in a world without love, blocked it - probably because it's a "Lennon-McCartney" song. No idea w...
American Bandstand 1968 - Makeup for men? - I Can Take Or Leave Your Loving, Herman's Hermits
Просмотров 18 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: February 17, 1968 It's the end of the road here for Herman's Hermits' phenomenal chart success. Their cover of “I Can Take Or Leave Your Loving” will be their last Top 40 single in the U.S. It peaks at #22 today on the Hot 100. (#1 in Canada) The Bandstand Regulars I spotted today: Al Allegre (men will wear makeup "for the benefit of man"), Roberta Simon, Forrest Hutchins, and (that) M...
American Bandstand 1968 - Spotlight Dance - Spooky, Classics IV
Просмотров 20 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: January 13, 1968 Lee Duncan, from KYNO Fresno, was right. “Spooky“ will become Dennis Yost and the Classics IV first hit song. It sits at #23 today and will go on to peak at #3 next month. I love the C-IV and this song, but it looks like it might be a bit hard to dance to (and it’s so new, it’s possible some them might have never even heard it before). Even regulars Jim Lyle and Robin ...
American Bandstand 1964 - Record Review - The Belmonts / The Classic 4
Просмотров 42 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: January 18, 1964 From Philadelphia - It’s Mashed Potato, South Street & Pony time! 😊 Here’s The Belmonts, after Dion left and The Classic 4, who would go on to have a stormy, spooky career before they learned roman numerals. 😉 Like the girl judges, I also thought “C’mon Everybody” was pretty catchy (I’ll give it a 82). To me though, both songs sound about 2 years out-of-date especially...
Shebang 1967- Dancing in the Street, Martha & the Vandellas
Просмотров 53 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: April 11, 1967 Shebang was a daily dance show that ran from 1965-1968 on KTLA, channel 5, in Hollywood and a few other markets in syndication. As American Bandstand and Shebang were both Dick Clark productions and taped only 2 miles from each other (Prospect Studios to KTLA), there were often several kids that danced on both shows. The "Bandstanders" I spotted today were: Forrest Hutch...
American Bandstand 1966 -Rate-A-Record -These Boots Are Made For Walkin', Nancy Sinatra/Jewel Akens
Просмотров 16 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: January 15, 1966 While we all know now that "These Boots...." was the hit here, climbing to #1 next month and becoming the 6th most popular song of 1966, how would you have rated it back then? "These Boots..." will enter the Billboard charts next week at #74. Akens’ “Slice of the Pie” never charted. I thought it had a good bassline, a nice “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” sorta sound and, well...
American Bandstand 1964 - What's Your Name, Don & Juan
Просмотров 54 тыс.Год назад
Airdate: May 30, 1964 Here at the height of Beatlemania, this 2-year-old classic "old song" probably sounded ancient to these kids. Don & Juan's "What's Your Name" peaked at #7 back in the Spring of 1962. While still early in it's Hollywood run, the show is starting to pick up some “regulars“ such as Frank Loverde, Danny McClane, and Terry Shires, with many more to come. I'm not sure if Famous ...

American Bandstand 1968 -1967 DANCE CONTEST WINNERS pt 2-In & Out of Love, Diana Ross & the Supremes
Absolutely fantastic! I have loved this song since I was a boy. Hard to believe these dancers bopped around to this tune almost 60 years back. Thanks for posting this, it made me smile.
Oh, did you have to go there you Schwab-Biden globalist? Then here's the counterpoint. NATO and the rest of the West are the bad guys this time. Russia will not allow NATO any closer to its borders than it already is. Tell Zelensky and Biden to get their butts to the tables of peace and start negotiating. Stop looking for a WWIII. Got that? Well do ya...punk! Russia and the rest of a sane less corrupt world get it. Globalists like you better get it too.
We'd prefer to keep politics out of the comments.
@@Dr.Pepper001 We? Are you with that YouCanDanceToIt channel guy who posted this AB video? He had a WTF moment adding his two cents worth in closure of his description siding with corrupt Ukraine in that war using the word "excrement" his feelings toward Russia. Why? Can't figure. But when someone takes a political stand on an issue totally unrelated to AB they'd better be prepared to be spanked. I agree. Of all things politics included in a show about fun and escapism is ridiculous. But that's what this channel guy did giving his unecessary opinion about that war in Ukraine. It was an opportunity to give the other side to the matter objectively. If I wanted to be subjective like he was I would have called his view bullshit. A mere counterpoint sufficed in its place. So that is that. You have a great day of liberty. That's what we all live for.
No war!
THE IDENTICAL TWINS...THERE WERE A NUMBER OF THEM ON ab.
Sad no names were recorded.
Best Boogaloo drops ever!
Chris Nerges, Debbnie mozer
I'm 71, the 50s, 60s and early 70s, totally awesome! Downhill ever since.
Whenever Becky Van Voorhees was in a roll call she took off her glasses and low and behold never put them on again.
The worst video is not this one...its the November 16, 1963, video wherein the horizontal on the old tube style equipment is very unstable...that could be fixed yanno
Diana Bower on the riser.
That Motown/R & B stuff was becoming dated by 67. The Stones, Beatles, The Byrds, The Yardbirds, The Strawberry alarm clock, Buffalo Springfield, The Lovin Spoonful, other groups, plus the boufant womens hair style, guys shirt or sweater and tie plus slacks/ short glued down hair, thick horn rimmed glasses, Brill creme, Dentyne chewing gum, Dick Clark, Aquanet hairspray, Swanson T.V. dinners..E-gawds..Robert at 69 im Arizona, and no I am not and aged hippie.
'Kind of a drag'..The Turtles?! Dick Clark stoned here as this this was The Buckinghams big first hit..WT..Robert at 69.
Bruce Richard was a camera hog.
Susan Madeira and Pat Levario in the second row as the music starts: :15 Debbie McClane next to John Pollard and his blonde enigma: :41 Diana Bower in the Zebra Stripes: Cathy Dworkin at 1:19; 2:2 and Debra Anderson with Famous;
❤❤❤😊
Born in 1951, best years ever
Couple 1
Why isn't it in color. American bandstand was in color in the late sixties.
2024 ❤🎻🎺🎷🎹🎶🎧
These young people look cute. But in a clip from 1964 i had expected boys with " topmop" ? 🤣
It was a great dance show! I watched every week. I'm 71 and still dancing!
To me, this is about the lamest dancing, for its time, that I have ever seen. Mostly they all just stand in one place, move their arms up and down as well as kicking their feet out in front of themselves. They can’t be high or they would really be going for it…like the hippie go-go dancers. Wonder what they are so terrible on here?
The new theme for 1969 was called “Bandstand” Theme by Mike Curb and the Waterfall. The 45 rpm is very hard to find but I finally found one.
Booker t and the mg's killed this song. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Here we go with lip syncing music! Uugghh
Now I see what it was about Dick Clark that didn't click with me. His eyes were totally blank while his voice retained vocal variety maintaining a deadpan expression. Seemed odd and disconnected.
I love the shot of the guy dancing in his Beatles boots. Very cool. I wanted a pair but no way my mom was going to buy Beatle boots for her little boy. Rats!!
Gimmie Dat Ding by the Pipkins, was Tony Burrows and Roger Greenaway who was a prolific songwriter of many hit records of the 60s and 70s. and Tony lead vocal on many of them.
💯
Enel 69 yo tenia 8años y las oia😊
abvsolutely the worst records to rate ever...
thanx for nancy's real last name!
The beautiful Petula with yet ANOTHER classic. This one was released in 67 to coincide with the start of Colour Television Transmissions in the U K ! Hence Colour my World.
Your list of names has helped me clean up some of the outrageous AI names I have come up with some times.
Keats and Diana Bower at 2:00; Laura bravo, Cathy Dworkin at 2:59: Nancy Wells at 3:41: and DeeDee Brown has an entirely new do at 4:17.
Lois Krieger and Marcia SIlverman at 1:05, the latter worked for DCP and she judged one of the dance contests, Connie West and Sue Rose at 1:37;.Doc Pollard and Barbara Fleck on the riser at 1:54; Judy Gordon seated below DC at2:32; Sue Rose, Vivica Roberts and Connie again at 3:05 and Tina Lasser, Roni Menacker and Tyra Golter at 3:22
They were all winners in my book.
3:40 the guy on the left has some moves lol
Couple number 3 would've gotten my vote.
This is great! Brings back so many great memories!!❤️
Love this song! Times were great in the 60’s when I was a teenager. We had so much fun!! Kids today will never know what fun was!
I loved American Bandstand!! Watched it every Saturday! This was the 60’s when kids had fun! I was 15 years old in 1967,a great time to be a teenager!
Frank Loverde was a dreamboat. Been gone almost 34 years now. Great to see him @ 16
Nothing like Soul Train. Glad I got to witness REAL dancing on Soul Train. This ain't it
I lost 100 pounds going to see live music and dancing. In one year. Just once or twice a week.
That girl with the freshest mouth in town is Victoria Principal. I have nothing else to say
They are kinda like the osmonds and Jackson 5
Oreo Big Stuff.
Neil diamond always sounded like he was in his 70s lol
